#HumansOfHalkin: Meet Sam French, Operations Director

“I’m a Londoner. Born, bred and still loving every minute of it. I’ve never lived anywhere else and I’m not sure I could. I’ve got dreams of travelling to Rio and Australia but I think I will always call London home. I come from a matriarchal family; strong women who worked hard and brought up kids on their own.

My nan was widowed when my mum was 23 and my mum brought three of us up on her own so Mothering Sunday is an important landmark for me. Especially since I’m a mum too.

I know this is supposed to be about me but my inspiration has always been my mum who worked her way from a low-paid job to being company secretary for GE while bringing up three rowdy children – even after retiring she still consults for some major blue-chip companies.

I’m driven to achieve what she has and – if I can – a little bit more because I have the luxury of a much better work-life balance than she ever did. I want to travel more and see as many exotic places as I can but at the heart of what makes me, me is family.”
