Realise You Learn More When You Fail

Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement – Henry Ford

Failure is nothing to be afraid of.

In fact, the road to success is fraught with failure; it’s an inevitable part of getting from A to B. That doesn’t make it easier to deal with though. Making mistakes can be tough, but the following three mantras will help you navigate failure and emerge from it a wiser person.

Failure isn’t personal

Remember that failure affects everyone. Nobody’s above it. Failing doesn’t mean you’re a bad person and it doesn’t define who you are or who you’ll be in the future. Even the most “successful” people have dealt with their fair share of it, and they’re lying if they say otherwise!

Failure is temporary

Failure doesn’t last forever – the key is to learn from it then let go of it. Once you’ve learnt the lesson failure set out to teach you, it fades away. Until the next time, of course! Remember: failure isn’t the same as defeat.

Failure is an opportunity

Although it leaves you feeling empty, failure can be enriching in the long run. More often than not it’s a chance to reevaluate and come back stronger with a better approach. Failure also shapes what you value and helps you be more compassionate.
